An elegant small modernised C17th French Chateau with swimming pool in a secluded Dordogne hamlet near to La Tour Blanche, available for rent in the holiday season.Click hear for a map centred on La Tour Blanche The house which has recently been restored, is L-shaped and forms two sides of an enclosed courtyard in the centre of which is a spreading and venerable Lime tree, which provides welcome shade in summer. The courtyard is approached by an imposing arched entrance under a classical pigeonnier. It is an ideal spot for eating outside, with French windows leading into the kitchen and several bedrooms, and a very safe place for children to play.
The pool (5m x 11m plus Roman steps) is away from the house, set in a secure walled garden
The rooms are mostly large and airy with high ceilings which keep them cool in Summer and with original and imposing fireplaces, wood stoves or log fires for the Winter. There is a large sitting room, a smaller library with books to suit most tastes, dining room and a farmhouse kitchen with 'range' cooker, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. In the basement is a separate laundry room with washing machine and drier. The furniture in the holiday home is mostly country antique, as far as possible in keeping with the atmosphere. There is a small radio/CD player, a gramophone with plenty of rather old fashioned records, a barbeque in the courtyard, table tennis, boules and plenty of garden furniture.
There are four bedrooms, two with en suite facilities, one with a bath and the other with a shower. Upstairs there is a further bathroom - our only upstairs room.
A gardener comes regularly to mow the grass keep things tidy, while the swimming pool is maintained by a local firm. Mr & Mrs R J Stone Tel: 01300 345425 |
